Slaughterhouse Recording E.P.

Joell Ortiz just recently announced through his Twitter that while Slaughterhouse tours this summer they will also be recording an EP. There is no additional information available at this time, but it sounds like the super-group is going to have their hands tied. As everyone knows, they have been hitting various venues across the country on such a regular basis it's surprising that they have time to record at all. Although we were all hoping for an album this year, it's reassuring that we are getting something that could be sold in the retail format. When additional information surfaces regarding the new EP, you will find it right here on The B.O.S.S. Board.

Blackout 2 From Method Man & Redman Drops April 2009!

Def Jam Recordings will release the long awaited and hotly anticipated Method Man and Redman album, Blackout 2, the follow up to their platinum plus collaboration, Blackout! on April 28th, 2009!

Featuring production from Pete Rock, Rockwilda and Erick Sermon, Blackout 2 will satisfy Method Man and Redman fans who have followed the two from their first verse. The first singles, “A-Yo” featuring Suakrates produced by Pete Rock, “Miss International” featuring Erick Sermon produced by Buckwild and “City Lights” featuring Bun B produced by Nasty Kutt are Method Man and Redman at their best.

Already an integral part of the fabric of hip-hop culture Method Man and Redman took hip-hop by storm when they released Blackout!. Hailed as one of the best albums of 1999, it featured the game changing singles “Y.O.U., Tear It Off” and “Da Rockwilder.” Method Man and Redman wrote their names in the history books as some of rap’s best lyricists.

"...when hip-hop's most playfully creative rhyme stylers throw down like two superballs in a rubber room, they're unstoppable - and make rap's most joyous ride." – Entertainment Weekly

Redman exploded on to the hip-hop scene in 1992 when he released his debut album, Whut? Thee Album. That gold album was followed up with the gold-plus, critically acclaimed releases Dare Iz a Darkside(1994), Muddy Water (1996), Doc’s da Name 2000 (1998), El Nino with Def Squad (Keith Murray and Erick Sermon in 1998) , Malpractice (2001) and Red Gone Wild (2007).

Always larger than life, Method Man became a vital part of hip-hop culture in 1992 as a founding member of the hip-hop supergroup Wu-Tang Clan with their instant classic Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Solidifying himself as a superstar in his own rite, Method Man released the platinum releases Tical (1994), Tical 2000: Judgement Day (1998), Tical 0: The Prequel (2004) and 4:21…The Day After (2006).

Don't sleep on this sure-to-be instant classic, available everywhere April 28th, 2009

Crooked I In Talks With WIDEawake Entertainment

In the last week or two many die hard Crooked I fans were disappointed when they lost the chance to purchase a bootleg copy of Crooked I's "Say Hi To The Bad Guy" album. However, fans may have a second chance in hearing the classic material as Crooked I is in talks to legally obtain his Death Row Records catalog from WIDEawake Entertainment. For those who are not aware, WIDEawake Entertainment is a Canadian based company that recently bought the rights to Death Row Record's entire catalog. While the company has not made any official announcements of what they plan to do with their newly purchased goldmine, it is no surprise that artists are approaching them for business propositions. There are no specifics regarding the talks between Crooked I and WIDEawake Entertainment, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that they work something out.

Crooked I´s Letter to Prodigy

I read your letter and you disrespectfully mentioned my name. If you don’t know why Vibe magazine chose to put me in the Best Rapper Alive issue maybe you should have researched me before you wrote what you wrote. Since you have time on your hands, you should check out week 1 thru 52 of my historical Hip Hop Weekly series. Week 33 was a freestyle over your song ‘Get Away’ (one of my favorite Mobb Deep songs). All things considered, there is a price for speaking on a real nigga sideways. Out west we call this price a ‘fade’. I need you to catch my fade, in other words, fight me 1 on 1. Nobody else, just you and me. I’ll wait for your release date since I don’t forget about shit.

P.S. Do some push ups.

Prodigy Taking Shots At Crooked I

It would appear that Mobb Deep's incarcerated member Prodigy, may be taking a jab at Crooked I in his latest letter home. Apparently, Prodigy was reading Vibe Magazine's "Best Rapper Alive" article and states that he disapproves of the emcees listed to say the least. Prodigy says, "I would personally bitch slap all 920,000 of these voters if given the opportunity. Who in the fuck picked Crooked I ... How did Vibe approve of this?". Some may say that Prodigy is simply voicing his opinion as he goes on to list his own top 40 emcees in the game, but it is unlikely a comment like that would go ignored. While it is unknown whether Crooked I will respond to this comment, any Hip Hop fan would agree that this could prove to be the start of something interesting.

This Could be Interessthing to see a Battle Between those 2 Mc´s.

Exclusive: Crooked I Admits He Was Shot At

Crooked I is changing up some of his music, as well as how he navigates the streets. The apparent target of an attempted murder on Friday in Long Beach, California, the MC wants to let all his fans know that despite rumors to the contrary, he's "good."

"Just reliving for the past couple of days, it's just been flashing in my mind over and over," Crooked revealed to MTV News, speaking in detail for the first time about the incident. "I don't know if it was somebody trying to get at me personally, or somebody was ... I don't wanna say ... set me up."

The former Death Row Records artist said he was trying to do what he normally does — grant the request of a fan — when he almost lost his life.

"Say you're walking down the street. Some dude comes up to you with a camera phone and he's like, 'Can you give a shout-out?' " Crooked explained. "You're like, 'OK,' and you're shouting the dude out. Three seconds later, somebody is shooting at you. Was dude [with the camera phone] trying to get me to stand still? Was he in on it? Was it a coincidence? I don't know. Mentally I had to fall back for a couple of days. I've been in those situations where people take shots or whatever. I'm relaxed around the hip-hop fans. I'm a very accessible dude. When dude came up and was like, 'Can you give me a shout out?' I'm like, 'Cool, what do you want me to say?' Three seconds later, I hear a noise. I [was] so far removed from the fact it can be gunshots. Then I turn around and see sparks. That's strange."

That's where Crooked stops detailing the story — he refuses to elaborate on whether the assailants' bullets actually struck him. "Where I'm from, certain things you can't talk about. It's illegal to our code and how we live."

Crooked did say that he's definitely looking forward to expressing himself through his craft, making more of what he calls "life music" — meaning everyone from all walks of life will relate to it.

"I'm gonna say real things today," he declared. "That's where my focus is. I wanna leave a body of work behind, man, that matches a Biggie, that matches a 'Pac. God is good. I need that body of work that has the potential to change — not the world, but a couple of people. Two, three, four million. One million. I don't care if it's only one person."

Outside the booth, though, there's a distinct chance that Crooked won't be touching as many people as he did before. At least for now.

"It just really opens your eyes, man, that I'm too accessible," he said about how the shooting incident has changed him. "I'm not this rap star walking around with 30 bodyguards. I gotta really re-evaluate the way I move around. I have to re-evaluate that. They caught me slippin'. The first shot I didn't even think it was a gunshot. That's how relaxed I was. I thought, 'What was that?' Somebody blew a horn, that's the only reason I turned around. You have to change your life. I gotta change my movement. They're not gonna see so much of Crooked I in the 'hood by himself. That right there is out the door, period. Some people may not like it. At this point, I don't give a damn, because it's my life."

Crooked is currently working on a solo album, as well as a group LP with a collective called Slaughterhouse. That group also consists of Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden and Royce Da 5'9". The album in the works with Bishop Lamont and Glasses Malone, No Country for Old Men, has been put on hold for now.

Crooked I Speaks On Boss Free Download

On February 7th an interview with Slaughterhouse was conducted by FIYAR Unlimited at the Taboo Night Club. During this interview Crooked I once again confirmed for fans that the long anticipated "B.O.S.S." album will be available for free download. However, this time Crook added a twist to the story. The album will be released in a similar fashion to his already classic "Block Obama" mixtape. Crook will be releasing each track separately once a week with inside commentary. While some fans may find this as a disappointment, Crook assures us that a new album is under development and will be released afterward. The new album will be released after Slaughterhouse drops and Crook jokes that he will title the project "Fuck Hip Hop". At this time there is no release date for the "B.O.S.S." download, but you can be sure to find this information right here on The B.O.S.S. Board when it becomes available!
